A song for us and you and everyone

Finally! For Trans Day of Visibility tomorrow (31.3) we uploaded the English version of our song. We called it “I am Silent, I am Loud” and here it is:

https://audiomack.com/trans-rrrrrrrr/song/12951411

If you’re trans, remember that you’re great, no matter how visible you can be tomorrow. We see you <3

And if you're not, but some of your friends/family members/partners/other important people in your life are, let them know that you appreciate them!

And maybe send them this song 🙂

Am I trans enough?

Somewhere in the middle between International Feminist Day on the 8th and Trans Day of Visibility on the 31st of March, comes a short speech. It’s a message for everyone who sometimes asks themselves, whether they are trans enough to be allowed to call themselves that, to come into trans groups and spaces and talk to other trans people there.

Whether you just started to question the gender you were assigned at birth or whether you’ve been giving off the impression of being the most self confident trans person n the world for years, this speech is for you. Please also feel free to forward the link to other people who might be happy about a little encouragement.

You are trans enough and you are amazing! Have a great day

Ein Lied für Uns und Euch und Alle

(English below)

Two of us wrote a song for Trans Day of Rrrrrr – and now we’re finally dropping the German version here! Please enjoy and tell your friends!

Please know that the text deals with transphobia a lot and gets quite sad at times. But it’s also beautiful and uplifting and we hope you’ll be able to see yourself in it.

You’ll find the lyrics in German and English in the post below this one and we’ll be back with the English version as soon as we find time to record it.

Until then: don’t forget that you’re super special and amazing and that no amount of transphobic or otherwise shitty people can take that away from you.

This song is for each and every one of you just like it is for us ourselves. It’s for all the people who treat themselves with love and all those who find they’re not always able to do that.

+++english+++

This song will be played at the demonstration today. Here are the lyrics if people want to sing with us.

I’m in line at the store, someone calls me from behind
saying “Sir”, I turn around, to be honest I don’t mind
But that might have been premature, cause they start to yell and curse
A young lady, such as me, should have long hair and a purse!
Sometimes I’ll turn away and I’ll blush and be all sad
Sometimes I’ll yell “shut the fuck up!” or I’ll throw a loaf of bread
I’m not a woman and I don’t care what you think of me
But I still know what you said is gonna haunt me in my sleep

Sometimes you’re so very mad at the things that people said
that I’m scared you might forget: you’re the best, you’re hella rad!

I am silent, I am loud, I am angry, happy, proud
I have dreams and sometimes know, sometimes don’t know where to go
I am beautiful and strong, sometimes right and sometimes wrong
I am kind and also rough and I treat myself with love!

We do not give a crap about what we look like to you
Cause before we could do that, we’d need a gender-neutral loo

You take a walk on the canal, what a nice relaxing day
There’s some people that you know, and they have a lot to say
“Is your name a short form of another, come on let me see!
I just wanna take a real quick look at some form of ID.
Did you see that film, there’s someone in it who is queer like you.
There is no-one else who understands these things just like I do.”
Later on you tell a cis-friend ‘bout the crappy time you had
But they ask “sure that’s transphobic? They don’t mean it just like that.

Sometimes you’re so very mad at the things that people said
that I’m scared you might forget: you’re the best, you’re hella rad!

You are silent, you are loud, you are angry, happy, proud
You have dreams and sometimes know, sometimes don’t know where to go
You are beautiful and strong, sometimes right and sometimes wrong
You are kind and also rough and you treat yourself with love!

We do not give a crap about what we look like to you
Cause before we could do that, we’d need a gender-neutral loo

Sometimes I look into the mirror and I don’t like what I see
Sometimes I hear myself talking and I wish that I could leave
Sometimes I wonder how I know, I’m not a woman nor a man
My questions are the worst cause there’s no escaping them
Yes of course the reason is society and all the time
That I spent in it but now the shit is also in my mind
Then I don’t know where to go or why I’d hurt myself so
If you also feel like that sometimes there’s something you should know

Sometimes you’re so very mad at the things that people said
that I’m scared you might forget: you’re the best, you’re hella rad!

We are silent, we are loud, we are angry, happy, proud
We have dreams and sometimes know, sometimes don’t know where to go
We are beautiful and strong, sometimes right and sometimes wrong
We are kind and also rough and we treat ourselves with love!

We do not give a crap about what we look like to you
And someday the sign will just say “toilet” on each and every loo!

Reden:

Jana’s:
Hi!
Dort habe ich in Gedenken all ihrer Opfer geredet.
Darum nennen wir diesen Tag nicht Transgender Day of Rememberance. Trans:rrrrrrr mit seinen vielen “R” versinnbildlicht unsere Wut und gibt Raum für unsere vielfältigen Forderungen, Gefühle und Lüste: revenge, rage, rebellion, revolution, redistribution, rights, reparation, rememberance,….
autonome trans*tifa_wien
“She benefited in our association from social, legal, health and administrative support, but she also found there a place of refuge and mutual aid, emotional and human support. Last month, she had started to participate in our French lessons, she was studious, applied, and generous, bringing to each session the meal for her comrades. She was “the driving force behind the group,” according to her teacher. She was preparing for the association’s monthly celebration, scheduled for February 28. She had come to France to work and live there. She worked there and lived there for a year.” (
+ Lara Argento (italien)
+Essi Granlund (26 sexarbeiterin finnland)
+ Valera (46, hausmeister russland, trans mann)
+Susana Criado Anton (60 Spanien)
+Steffany Dior

Jana’s:
Hi!
I’m Jana. This is the name I chose, it’s the name that defines me and it’s the only one you will address me by.
I’m a trans girl, I’m out. But even long before I was I was always the odd one. I know I’m not the only one here who experienced violence. I was beaten so badly once that my right eye is damaged to this day.
It was only a week ago I last spoke at a demonstration talking about patriarchal violence. There I spoke in remembrance of all it’s victims. I cannot and will not do it anymore. I am here today only to speak to the odd ones and I have only one message: You are fucking awesome!
That we have to have these demonstrations is sad and frustrating. But that we have them is amazing. It proves that solidarity exists in this screwed up world we live in. It proves that every time we are beaten to the ground we get up. It proves that we are willing to pick each other up.
A lot of us know what it feels like not to be able to leave the bed in the morning or even the afternoon. To struggle with food. In this mess we feel alone. But I promise you: we are not. You are not alone. We are here to fight for each other, and we will accept nothing short of being part of this society. Because we already are.
And we are not victims. We are survivors. Violence we might have experienced shapes us but it does not define us. What defines us is being human. What defines us is being part of the majority because the majority isn’t cis white men. They are loud and right now they have the power, but I promise you: the rest of us is louder. And we are angry and we will not let the patriarchy survive for our children to deal with. We will smash it together starting right here and now.
We do not own the patriarchy anything, least of all being beautiful or fitting into the roles it wants to prescribe us. We do not own the patriarchy to be silent.
I said it at the beginning of this speech already: You are fucking awesome. You are awesome because you are who you are. You are awesome for being here because it shows your love for this community and it shows that you are unwilling to be silenced. Equally awesome are our siblings that cannot be here and those living in a closet. Those closets we will smash alongside patriarchy. The community is one of solidarity, but it is not one with the goal of supporting people to get out of the closet. It is one that will smash every closet so that our children will not know what it feels like to have to hide, from others or worse themselves.
Each of us is equally strong and weak. There are things that we can do and things that we cannot. Those strengths and weaknesses – whether you are say good in music, art or neither are what defines us. This is what cis people say to each other and it is how we have to start seeing each other as well. Being trans or being a cis woman even is not a weakness, it’s a strength. Because it means we are raised to be strong, to work twice as hard and to rely on each other. And this is why we will win. Our children will be all colors of the rainbow and they will not believe a fucking word we tell them about the patriarchy because it’s oppression and it’s violence is nothing that will let stand any longer.
Be proud and be loud. Accept yourself and love your siblings!
trans:rrrr:
Violence against trans people is everywhere. It is in law as well as in psychiatric and medical regulations. It is exercised by state and medical institutions. It is trivialized and justified by them, too. The police, courts, parliament, psychotherapeutic, psychiatric and medical practices, wage labor, kindergartens, schools and universities – in all these places and through all these institutions trans people experience violence.
This violence against trans people happens every day, too. We experience it on the street, in changing rooms, in toilets, in job interviews, at plenarys of poltical groups, in the brothel, in the university seminar… We are exposed to it by families, partners, relatives, colleagues, through fleeting encounters and friends. Violence against trans people manifests itself in bureaucracy, in looks, in comments, in beatings, kicks, stabs and shots. But the violence affects us in very different ways: trans persons of color and sex workers are hit by far the hardest. This also reflects in this predominatly white demonstration. It urges white trans people and white supporters to acknowledge and fight against racism among us, too.
The Corona measures, which only became necessary because capital and the government demanded that the factories and offices remain open, are not turing our ways to deal with this violence impossible. The relations of care that we have built up instead of trans hostile biological family structures are cut by the heteronormative crisis management of the lockdown. Because our families are not biological, we are told to no longer meet. Thus the government’s current crisis policy solidifies cisnormativity.
Since the murder of the black trans performer Rita Hester in Massachusetts in 1998, the goal of Trans Rememberance Day on November 20 is to mourn the abrupt and bloody as well as the silent and slow deaths. Therefore we want to mourn on November 20 for the dead who died and will continue to die due to the cis-two-gendered order. For our bodies and lives are still subject to the patriarchal and trans hostile  order.
But mourning and remembrance alone will not save us. They will not stop the killing. For as important as mourning is, as necessary it is to remember the victims of trans-hostile violence: Mourning always comes too late: the suffering has already happened. And nothing can be bought by the pity of the dominant society.
Violence against trans people is always also economic: our work as trans people is exploited exspecially intensively, paid very badly or not at all. In Austria, too, trans people earn way less than their cis colleagues. Trans people more often find themselves in precarious, too.
Not fitting in the two gender order makes the wage labour trans persons do even more precarious, extremly poorly paid. Not being able or wanting to pass through in one of the supposedly two genders costs nerves and cash. At the same time, access to passing is not only pathologizing, but also costly. The legal, psychiatric and medical measures required for passing are only partially covered by health insurance. The costs for a transition often run into the thousands. Depening on gender and nationality, the costs for a transition often run into the thousands: facial feminization, logotherapy, masketomy among others are pricely. Thus, only the wealthiest trans people are able to medically transition.
So the 20.11. is not only a day of mourning and remembrance for us. It is a day of our anger about the never ending violence against trans people. The 20.11. is the day on which we stand up for ourselves politically: For a society without the norm of an abhorrent, white abelist cis genderism. For a society that does not constantly produce trans hostile violence through its crises and contradictions. On November 20, but not only then, we rise our voices for a society that no longer exploits us and marginalizes us economically.
Our demands are utopian: we want the end of the capitalism-White-Supremacy-Hetero-Cis-Patriarchy. And our demands are concrete: We want an end to pathologization, a life without institutional, state and interpersonal violence.
And we want compensation and redistribution of all that which is stolen from us every day, that which is always denied us: recognition, rights and free access to trans health care. But it is not only rights and recognition that are stolen from us. Our energy, life time and creativity are also stolen from us.
That is why we demand wages for the unpaid work we do all the time. We demand wages for the extra hours in the paid work we do because of fear of losing our jobs. We demand wages for the educational work that we constantly provide to colleagues, superiors, friends and comrades. We demand wages for the daily and exhausting work on our bodies, on which we are dependent to leave our homes. We demand wages for the mental work of dealing with the shame and stigma of the dominant society.
We demand to be paid for this work. Because we have to do it, because as a supposed minority we are continuously fetishized, attacked again and again and continually marginalized. We also demand compensation for the unpaid work that was demanded of us and our dead siblings. But our demand for wages is a transitional demand: For we demand and end to capitalism for cisnormativity to end.
Therefore we do not call this day Transgender Day of Rememberance. Trans:rrrrrrr with its many “R’s” symbolizes our anger and gives room for our various demands, feelings and desires: revenge, rage, rebellion, revolution, redistribution, rights, reparation, rememberance,….

We are angry. We’re pissed off, we’re really pissed off.
We are angry because trans people experience violence every day, we are angry because we have to fight against it all the time and we are angry, shocked and sad because every year countless of our trans siblings are murdered all over the world.
Since last year’s TdoR another 350 murders of trans people have been reported worldwide. With these numbers, one must not forget: these are only those that have been made public. Many other murders are not reported or wrongly recorded by the police because they do not recognize or do not want to recognize trans people as such.
Of the people whose profession was known, more than 60% were sex workers, 98% were transwomen or femmes. Racism combined with transphobia leads to an above-average number of trans people of color becoming victims of physical violence.
As an example: About 80% of trans people murdered in the USA were PoC.
The majority were under 35 years of age, the youngest was 15 years old.
Because we believe that numbers alone don’t give you a complete picture, and because we don’t want there to be nothing left of these trans people except a number in a hard to find statistic, we decided to read the names of the people who were murdered in Europe out loud. We have made this choice not because people in Europe are more important to us than others, but in order to show that transphobic violence is also practiced here.
This violence is sometimes so cruel that even the research was difficult
We don’t want to reduce the persons to the way they died, but instead share a few sentences about them and their lives.
+Emilia Lundberg (20, sweden)
+Francesca Galatro (66, italy)
Francesca studied engineering and taught it later too. She also cared for an elderly woman for a long time. Francesca developed an alcohol problem later in her life and fell into depression. (At the time of her death, Francesca was in a homeless shelter. Whether she worked or lived there herself is not known to us).
+Tamara Khatamzhonov (24, sex worker, migrant from Uzbekistan in Russia)
+Jessyca Sarmiento (38, sex worker in France, migrant from Peru), part of the organization Acceptess-T and engaged and networked there; this org:
“She benefited in our association from social, legal, health and administrative support, but she also found there a place of refuge and mutual aid, emotional and human support. Last month, she had started to participate in our French lessons, she was studious, applied, and generous, bringing to each session the meal for her comrades. She was “the driving force behind the group,” according to her teacher. She was preparing for the association’s monthly celebration, scheduled for February 28th She had come to France to work and live there. She worked there and lived there for a year. (

+Essi Granlund (26, sex worker finland)
Granlund was stabbed with a kitchen knife. The police did not report the murder for a month. When they finally did report the case, they cited a “quarrel between two men” as the reason
+Aysu Mammadi (28, sex worker from Azerbaijan), was disinherited by her family and not picked up by them after her death
+Manuela de Cassia (48, sex worker, Italy)
+ valera (46, janitor russia, trans man)
translated article:
“When he moved to our area, he immediately began the clean-up work. Our farm changed immediately. In winter, for example, he hired homeless people”
According to a friend, Valera was immediately “accepted as a relative” in his new home. “He settled disputes and could help with money,” the man added.
Valera was an exemplary family man. He lived together with his partner Aljona and his 11-year-old foster daughter.
A neighbor said about Valera’s relationship with his foster daughter: “She was very attached to Valera, she called him daddy. He always took care of her. Sometimes I say, come out, we sit in the yard, smoke a cigarette and talk. He often answers me – no, he takes lessons from Vera and then cooks dinner for her. He has really replaced her mother.”

sono a meravigliosa persona solare simpatica estroversa. mi piacce fare nuovi amici
(I am a great person, radiant, sympathetic and extrovert. I like to make new friends)
It is not easy to read these names and the stories behind them without sadness, anger, pain, disgust and disappointment coming up. Disgust at the brutality, the dehumanization, which is still inflicted on our siblings every day, and disappointment that it is socially accepted, even encouraged. Still today.
There are reasons for this that go beyond the individual perpetrators who abuse, attack and murder us.
Above all, they emanate from the dominant form of society, the state, patriarchy and capitalism, as well as the repressive mechanisms that go with them.

Apart from the fact that being trans in itself is criminalized in many places around the world, trans people are also being pushed into illegal acts in many other ways.
For it is already difficult enough to be recognized as trans person. To find the necessary money, to have the “right” citizenship and to be insured is a privilege that is denied to most of us.
Therefore, other solutions are often sought than those permitted by the state. This in turn carries an increased risk of repression, police violence and prison sentences.
This year has created many more problems for trans people because of Corona and its restrictions. Whether in government offices or at the doctors, at university, school, work or at home, trans-related topics were almost everywhere considered “not so important”, “not essential for survival” and in many cases ignored, adjourned or cancelled.
This can trigger dysphoria, psychological problems, feelings of helplessness and much more, which in extreme cases can lead people to hurt or kill themselves.
Therefore we want to abolish everything that keeps us from a self-determined and free life! Not only the discrimination of trans people but everything connected with it: police, patriarchy, capitalism, state borders, prisons etc.
Against sexism and transphobia – For feminism and anarchy!

Salut !

Trans Day of R* – Trans:rrrrr

trans*revenge
trans*rage
trans*rebellion
trans*revolution
trans*redistribution
trans*rights
trans*reparation
trans*rememberance

Trans Day of R* – Trans:rrrrr

Violence against trans people is omnipresent: It is exercised, rivialized and justified by state and medical institutions. Violence against trans persons happens every day and practically everywhere. We
experience it through fleeting encounters and those close to us. It manifests itself in bureaucratic routines, glances, gun shots. Trans persons of Color and sex workers are the ones it hits the hardest. That is why we want to mourn on November 20th the dead who died and will continue to die as a result of the trans hostile cis-two-gendered order.
That means, we mourn the death of those who were killed and continue to be killed because their sex or gender does not correspond with the sex and gender ascribed to them at birth. Whether they are killed abruptly and bloody or quietly and slowly.

But mourning and remembrance always comes too late: the suffering has already happened. And nothing can be bought with the pity of the dominant society. Violence against trans people is always also economic: our work as trans people is exploited particularly intensively, often not paid at all. So November 20th is the day when we stand up for ourselves politically: For a society without the norm of an abhorrent white cisgenderism. For a society that does not constantly produce trans hostile violence through its crises and contradictions. On November 20th, but not only then, we demand a society that no longer exploits us and marginalizes us.

We want the end of the Capitalism-White-Supremacy-Hetero-Cis-Patriarchy complex. We want the end of pathologization, a life without institutional, state and interpersonal violence. And we want compensation and redistribution of all that is stolen from us every day: Recognition, rights and free access to trans health care. But our energy, life time and creativity are also stolen from us. That is why we demand wages for the unpaid labour we do all the time: The unpaid extra hours at the job, the labour in front of the mirror, in hospitals and legal institutions, the labour of explaining our lives to strangers, the emotional labour of dealing with anxieties and insecurities. This labour must be done in order to survive in this cisnormative society. We also demand compensation for the unpaid labour that was demanded of us and our dead siblings.

Therefore the name of this event: Trans Day of R* symbolizes our anger and gives space for our various demands, feelings and desires:
trans*revenge
trans*rage
trans*rebellion
trans*revolution
trans*redistribution
trans*rights
trans*reparation
trans*rememberance
